Background:
Wendy is an Intellectual Property (IP) and technology lawyer, with a specialist focus on IP, technology and employment- related advisory and dispute. She is a partner with Eldan Law (associated with DWF, which was UK’s largest listed law firm) and she has worked with a range of clients including international conglomerates, technology start-ups, generic pharmaceutical companies, and media owners.
She was called to the Singapore Bar in 2001 and was previously a partner with the IP team of one of Southeast Asia’s largest law firm between 2008 and 2017.
In the course of her career, Wendy had been profiled as one of the “50 IP Litigators You Should Know” in the Asia Pacific region and had been consistently awarded the IP Star by Managing IP in 2014 to 2017. Given Wendy’s experience, she had been invited to be the co-editor of the 2018 and 2021 updated edition of the Halsbury’s Laws of Singapore on e-commerce, with chapters outlining the latest legal issues on electronic evidence, intellectual property and digital rights.
Wendy firmly believes in giving-back to the community. She is an executive management volunteer at the International Intellectual Property Commercialization Council (IIPCC.org) Singapore Chapter since its formation. IIPCC.org Singapore is a nonprofit apolitical NGO.
On behalf of the Singapore Chapter of IIPCC.org she was invited to attended as an observer on behalf of IIPCC Singapore Chapter and IIPCC.org at the WIPO General Assembly in Geneva.
Wendy was also previously a mediator with CASE and has advocated for women issues with various NGOs in Hong Kong and Singapore, including with AWARE. She has also performed in forum theatre works in collaboration with AWARE to create awareness on situations of oppression and injustice suffered by women every day at work, at home and in social settings.
Wendy now works with an international NGO to provide pro bono assistance to domestic workers who had been abused or unfairly treated in Singapore.
Wendy previously stood for election under the Progress Singapore Party in 2020 in the Tanjong Pagar GRC team, and has served as the Head of the PSP Women’s Wing since 2021. Under her leadership, PSP Women’s Wing has championed for the validation of every Singaporean women, advocated for the Workplace Fairness Act and has organized forums on topics ranging from women leadership to policy discussions on raising Singapore’s total fertility and assisting women with pre and post-natal depression.
