LOW Wei Ling, Wendy 刘韦伶

Head, Women’s Wing

Wendy is an intellectual property (IP) lawyer and a partner in Eldan Law LLP, co-heading its IP and technology practice.

Between 2008 to 2017, Wendy was a partner with one of the largest law firms in Singapore and Southeast Asia. She was profiled as one of the “50 IP Litigators You Should Know” in the Asia Pacific region and had been consistently awarded the IP Star by Managing IP in 2014 to 2017. Given Wendy’s experience, she had been invited to be the co-editor of the 2018 and 2021 updated edition of the Halsbury’s Laws of Singapore on e-commerce, with chapters outlining the latest legal issues on electronic evidence, intellectual property and digital rights.

Wendy firmly believes in giving-back to the community. She is an executive management volunteer at the International Intellectual Property Commercialization Council (IIPCC.org) Singapore Chapter since its formation. IIPCC.org  Singapore is a nonprofit apolitical NGO. On behalf of the Singapore Chapter of IIPCC.org  she was invited to attended as an observer on behalf of IIPCC Singapore Chapter and IIPCC.org at the WIPO General Assembly in Geneva.

Raised by her grandmother in Tiong Bahru, Wendy contested as a candidate in PSP’s Tanjong Pagar team in GE2020. Wendy has advocated for women and foreign domestic workers’ issues with various NGOs in Hong Kong and Singapore, including with AWARE.

Wendy has been volunteering with youth camps and charities to distribute food and rations to the homeless in Singapore, which a recent survey suggests numbered about 1,000. Wendy also hopes to tap on her IP/tech legal skills to help catapult local SME businesses to the global platform, starting from the shops in the neighbourhood.
