Lawrence worked overseas for most of his adult life, in countries such as India, China, and the UAE.
In 2008, he started his own camera manufacturing company in Shenzhen, China, and stayed there for 12 years.
He returned to Singapore in 2020 and served as the Secretary-General of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) from 2020 to 2023.
During his tenure as Secretary-General of the SMF, Lawrence fought for and supported the interests of Singaporean manufacturers in discussions with government agencies and foreign embassies, as manufacturing contributes more than 20% of Singapore’s GDP.
The digitalization and awareness of sustainability models for Singaporean manufacturers and SMEs was a key priority for Lawrence when he served as Secretary-General of the SMF.
Lawrence has been actively walking the ground with PSP since 2023 and was a member of the team that contested Chua Chu Kang GRC in GE2025.
