Background:
Hazel was awarded the Singapore Government Overseas Merit Scholarship in 1989.
After graduating from the University of Cambridge, Hazel served in the Ministry of Finance and the Prime Minister’s Office, and was appointed to the Administrative Service.
Hazel subsequently left the Administrative Service and co-founded a chain of private education centres with her husband.
Hazel first contested in the 2011 General Election in Chua Chu Kang GRC, and was a founding member of the Progress Singapore Party in 2019.
She stood for election under PSP in 2020 in the West Coast GRC team, and has served as Non-Constituency Member of Parliament since July 2020.
