Some 130 members of Progress Singapore Party visited four major hospitals this morning (1st March 2020) to distribute 2500 appreciation packs containing a PSP water bottle, biscuits, hand sanitiser and a packet of POCARI Sweat isotonic powder.

Teams of PSP members fanned out and stationed themselves at strategic points outside the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Tan Tock Seng (TTSH), National University Hospital (NUH) and Ng Teng Fong Hospital (NTFH). Our members distributed goodie bags with notes of appreciation. Some of the healthcare staff were returning home from night shift duty, while others were reporting for their morning shift duty.

There was also a second session this afternoon where Dr Tan Cheng Bock paid a visit to NUH, thanking them for their fight against COVID-19. He greeted and thanked hospital staff on their dedication that they have shown under these circumstances.

“We wanted to show our gratitude and appreciation to the hard work and selfless dedication put in by our frontline healthcare workers,” said a member of PSP.

Among the many healthcare staff, one Madam Sarah, who has been with SGH for three years, mentioned she was tired after her night shift but felt happy about receiving this unexpected gift.

Another nurse, who was on her way to work, was especially touched by the origami paper hearts, bearing messages of support and appreciation. The origami paper hearts had been specially prepared and folded by PSP members and their families.

PSP members expressed their personal gratitude to the many healthcare and service staff for their selfless and ceaseless dedication in protecting the community during this COVID 19 situation. They also took the opportunity to encourage them and uplift them with supportive messages.

Some of the medical staff mentioned that they are concerned with the availability of mask supplies in Singapore now. But assured us that they will continue to do their part in rendering medical services to the public.
